Ozzy Back With A Bang

After a break of one year, Ozzy is rearing to get back on the road, to promote his new record, Scream.

Ozzy explained why he gets itchy feet - "You can't just go, 'I'm wealthy, I've got a house here, and a house there, and a car here, and a car there.' And you drive around the house and you drive around the streets, you drive around a few things, and then what?

“One thing I learned was you've got to have something to retire to. My father got early retirement, he died a year after. The routine that we build ourselves into is our mechanism, and once you throw a spanner in the works, you throw it off.”

VaiTunes

Guitar virtuoso Steve Vai has recently decided to publish his little guitar experiments and studio jams.

"There are enough lonely, unreleased notes in my world to fill an infinity shelf," Steve has worked hard to edit these titbits into incredible metal and has made them available for download on a program called Vaitunes.

Each release comes with info on the songwriting process, the recording, and the equipment he used.

A new track will be released aroubd every month, and can be purchased from www.vai.com/vaitunes.

You can watch Vai beeing caught working on the track 'The Moon and I' here
On this track
Steve used an original Desert Yellow Ibanez JEM 777DY, a guitar he designed in 1987, which he recently bought from a pawnshop. He lovingly christened the guitar "Moon."

Whitesnake Trouble

Bassist Uriah Duffy and drummer Chris Frazier are leaving Whitesnake. It is reported to be a happy split, and Whitesnake have wished them luck for the future.

They have already found a replacement drummer in the form of Brian Tichy, though have not yet found a bass player good enough to fill Duffy's shoes.

They are motoring on with their latest album, aimed to be out for next Spring.

Lennon Lyrics Go Mint

John Lennon's original lyrics for "A Day in the LIfe" were sold at auction $1.2 million.

Some say the song tells of Paul McCartney's death, when he "blew his mind out in a car"
It also features the phrase "I'd love to turn you on," which many later believed was another hint at Paul's death, as on the White Album, the song "Revolution 9," when listened to backwards, says "Turn me on, deadman."

The song was also banned from the BBC radio, because of lyrics like these and it's frightening crescendos and high pitched buzzing, and was taken off the LP in many countries.

Blues Brothers is a "Catholic Classic"

The 1980 cult classic film Blues Brothers has been declared by the Vatican as a "Catholic Classic."

In the film, the two brothers become inspired by God to raise money for their Catholic orphanage, run by a "Penguin." While trying to earn this money, they get shot at by Princess Leia multiple times, and knock a crowd of American Nazis of a bridge.

No wonder the Pope likes it so much!

It will join films such as:
  • The Godfather
  • The Passion of Christ
  • and the Sound of Music
An official speaking for the Vatican explained why they honured the movie with this title - “Of course it’s Catholic. It’s two guys saving a Catholic orphanage and being chased by a bunch of Nazis. What could be more Catholic than that? It’s just a different kind of Catholic than ‘The Passion’.”

Hmm...
